A longstanding story claims that a group of thieves during a European plague outbreak were robbing the dead or the sick. When they were caught, they offered to exchange their secret recipe, which had allowed them to commit the robberies without catching the disease, in exchange for leniency. Another version says that the thieves had already been caught before the outbreak and their sentence had been to bury dead plague victims; to survive this punishment, they created the vinegar.
Four Thieves Vinegar is common in southern hoodoo magick. Topically, it can be used as a barrier to unwanted energies, a thief-deterrent, and even as fortification against psychic attacks. On a mundane level, the vinegar can be used for one’s health, and in the kitchen as a cooking vinegar or as an antiseptic surface cleaner.

Four Thieves Vinegar (Witch's Cottage)
Talk about truth in advertising. The person that creates the Witch's Cottage line of magickal goods is a witch who lives in a cottage deep in the woods of Central North Carolina. Her name is JD Walker and she is an avid student of herbology and gardening.
